The
contact wheels are the support of the abrasive belt for a mechanical grinding
working .
It is very important to choose the most appropriate contact wheel for
grinding and finishing operations using abrasive belts.
In addition to the belt itself, the contact wheel is the most important
component of any belt system.
The choice of any contact wheel must necessarily take into consideration
the results and costs of the operations because this influence the cutting,
finishing, smoothness and cost of the operation itself.
A contact wheel should only be chosen after having considered all the
parameters affecting its performance, as:
-
The finishing of the worked piece
- Working speed (the amount of material removed
or the number of pieces worked in a given time period)
- The performance of the
belt
In this
way it is possible to arrive at an objective determination of the working
conditions and wheel/belt balance that lead to the most effective and
economic results.
This choice is too often made in a chance and discontinuous manner; a
wrong choice can double or even triple the cost of an operation.
Contact wheels should be chosen on the basis of the material,
density, surface, shape, speed and size that is best suited
to a specific working procedure.
The evaluation of all of these equally important parameters will make
it possible to find the right balance for maximising the performance of
the materials used at the minimum cost.
This is why we make available to you the technical experience we have
acquired during 30 years of intense collaboration with our customers operating
in various fields, particularly the manufacturers of lapping machines
(e.g. For cooking pots and pans, taps and fittings, skis, footwear and
many others) who have helped us to develop and improve our products.
